Re: Jimmy Savile
WTF was Cosby thinking?
"Bill Cosby Twitter campaign completely backfires after rape accusations.
Here’s a lesson that will forever be remembered now: If someone has had multiple rape accusations leveled against them over the course of a decade, perhaps they should think twice before asking the internet to form a meme around their personality.
Actor Bill Cosby learned that lesson the hard way this week, when he posted a picture of himself on Twitter and asked users to “meme” him.
Of course, the entire thing backfired spectacularly."

Re: Jimmy Savile
For Americans (at least those to the left of the Klan), very bad news indeed. Their Rolf Harris, only far worse it seems, both in the alleged crimes/misdeeds, and in the shaking of confidence in trusted oldies.
Like others here, what (little) I saw of The Cosby Show was unimpressive. An odd mixture of slightly cringemaking tokenist (at the time, before Prince of Belair, etc.) and smug. Since he just replicated white successful middle-class virtues/vices.
But what it stood for was important nonetheless. At the time.
And at a time when Obama is shot down as a matter of course, for his occasional chronic indecision (merited), for his early exaggerated efforts to be reasonable with the implacably, self-righteously unreasonable (partly merited), for his failure to turn the US economy around in the teeth of a global bank-induced slump and that same bloody-minded yet opportunistic political opposition (unmerited) and (*supply dog whistle item* - wholly unmerited), it is unfortunate too that Cosby is - all appearances suggest - exposed.
He was a decent singer and promoter of good music, though. I hope the latter can be saved from the increasing wreckage. But not for his sake.

Re: Jimmy Savile
The Cosby Show might have been a bit twee, but Bill Cosby's early stand-up is some of the best you will ever listen to.
Even if these allegations are proven (and I have to say it's not looking good for Bill) I will still laugh my arse off at those earlier records. Although I might not laugh so much at those jokes he used to make about drugging women's drinks...

I agree Hass. I was a real fan of Cosby stand-up records, they were hilarious.
This current palaver just makes me sad. And the victims are coming out of the woodwork in droves now that the initial allegations are gaining traction.

Two young women have come forward...what are the odds on Prince Paedi:
1 being charged
2 facing court
3 being found guilty
4 doing time and sharing a cell with a large Irish republican called O'Bubba

Re: Jimmy Savile
Apparently* he can't face trial in the US because of the plea bargain made by the billionaire mastermind when he was convicted.
I don't see how he could face trial anywhere else and anyway the girl was 17 at the time which if consensual surely isn't illegal under UK law.
