Shocked the shit out of me.

So to answer your question, based on MB's post on the previous page, someone emailed him saying they'd been banned. Based on Frommie's post on the same page, it was either Red or taips. Dunno about you, but I'm not sure Red would be in MB's contact list.

I may be wrong.

Meh, it's not like Dello didn't give the odd wrap over the knuckles or two.

I note Red seems to have pulled her horns in. If it was taips, he did seems to basically dare Frommie to ban him. Seems cavalier at the best, stoopid at worst. Dello has said in the past that dealing with the Hosts is a fate worse than death (well, sumpent like that) - one can only assume Frommie is looking to avoid that. Shirley it's only a short sin-binning?

It doesn't matter. You're not bothered because you don't like him. It's as simple as that. Personally, I'd be incensed even if I didn't like him. It indicates that someone has complained. Those people aren't healthy for the forum. They, in fact, have complete disregard for this forum. They know the score on our hosts, yet they complain all the same. It is, and I'm not being dramatic here, a f*cking disgrace.

Unfortunate incestuously-fornicatory choice of words by Dan, but I got his drift.

The discussion of Skully's daughter prompted by Horace and spiced by Woody was cute, and heartening to read, but wasn't actually "provocative behaviour" stuff, at a time when Danny was (as they say) "like, What When How Why WTF??????????"

No offence is ever meant by Monkey except when he's really pissed off by hypocrisy, humbug or double standards - or perhaps condescension like this, Skulls. Don't take it personal.

Well, I can give you a 100% assurance that I didn't complain, if that's what you're inferring. I never have, and never will whinge to the moderator for exactly the reason you state - it's not healthy for the forum, and weak in the extreme.

I get that now, Pete, but forgive me for my original shocked reaction, I'm not accustomed to having someone blurt "F*ck your daughter" to me in a forum.

As to your question as to what happened, I'm as in the dark as anyone. One minute he's here (if it was in fact taips that was timed out), the next minute there's posts from embee, Fromage and horrie indicating a banning and a question to my whereabouts (hence the daughter reference).

That's that Voltairean: "I disagree with what you say, but I will fight to the death for your right to say it" (which btw Voltaire was good at saying, but terrible at doing - ran like hell to Switzerland and was the worst offender at attacking others personally - screaming from Switzerland that Rousseau was insane and should be executed for heresy, etc. Very Happy ).

This is not implying anything against you, Danny, just that on balance, personally I prefer real people over very abstract principles.

I think it IS a dangerous road to select individuals to can (however short the yellow-carding).

But I suppose summat must have happened??

I wonder anyway whether any "reporting" was done, as Danny says and which is the thing he seems to say is the most disgraceful bit, self-interested telling tales, sneakiness, snitching, ratting, etc.

Fromage's note at the top of this thread, repeated a page or so ago, appears rather to say Dello will take the matter in hand regardless - editorial decision, not response to reporting, that is - partly to keep the "universal" rating, but I'd have thought mainly to stop the hosts shutting this place down as a vitriolic nest of nastiness, and a public liability.

I can see that point too.

To me, this is the main point, Pete. I think Frommie's shots across the bow are exactly that - pre-emptive shots to head off some of the tripe Dello has had to deal with in the past, when things degenerated into Report-fests. He/she basically said exactly that in his/her two warning posts. I thought it was pretty unambiguous.

If taips is a casualty (however brief), that's unfortunate, but I can't imagine Dello would hand the reins over to someone who he'd even have the slightest inkling would undo his legacy via outright and wholesale bannings.

The assumption above seems to be that it is taipan in the sinbin, or possibly Red.

Well, t has recently posted in the Picks thread. Which surely rules him out. (Or in, whichever way you look at it.)

And Red .... regularly nags away, but rarely seems to lose his grip language-wise. So unless the mask slipped and he joined N in an outright teeth-and-claws dogfight, I'd doubt that it's him either.

Mysterious.

Oh FFS, the daughter bit was totally innocuous. BM's view was that it was getting it the way of the discussion and cleared it out. If Skully said he was mowing the law and the comment was "fark the lawn, lets get back on topic" would you guys be having this discussion.

Read the comment in context.
