Bucky ... you really want to go down that line again? Yes he said it, and it's a form of praise?

Isn't the term 'negro' a little 1950's? Actually, isn't the term 'N*gger' an abbreviation of negro?

I've been to America many times and get conflicting views.

Calling someone "dark" is racist.

And in some areas, the use of "Black" is racist.

Everytime I go now, I simply don't refer to people's colour anymore.

he was hounded by the rest. I have read horror stories about his car being smashed up and his wife and family harassed in public places by his team mates and their wives.

Wasim Akram's wife once refused to sit together with Yohanna's wife at a restaurant table.

Weird.

Calling someone "black" seems to be racist in America these days, but in South Africa it is perfectly acceptable to still use the descriptions "Black, white, and coloured."

I guess it's a bit like how it's racist to say p*ki in Britain but apparently not so in Aus.

'Asian' is the term used in Britain akin to 'Subi' on here.

I have always wondered whether the avg Brit or Oz would like to be called Albo (meaning Albanian)

'Asian' in US is also Oriental/Far Easterners.

But in Britain it referrs to all the riff-raff from former South Asian colonies. A glowing cover-all description.

'Jap' is meant to be an offensive term for the Japanese, but I have several Japanese friends and they don't mind it at all. In fact they use it a lot themselves when talking in English.

I would have thought "nip" or "slope" would be the offensive term for Japs.

A lot of Japanese happily refer to themselves as yellow monkeys . . . they see it as showing them as clever
