Re: AFL 2021
So they don't know who's playing week to week yet, but they DO know the above.
Suppose the 'club grandes fromages bleat about the draw' part of the news cycle is written into the media contracts, like the month and a half of hot air and bulldust we've just had....

If anyone needs to be convinced Eddie needs to be boned, then just listen to that speech.

Eddie's occasional bouts of ethnic foot-in-mouth over the first 15 years of his head-honcho-hood could easily be dismissed as blips in a tenure which saw astronomical improvement from the McAllister 'behave like white people' era. And that is a very real and very significant achievement. For a long time he was the club chief I wished Carlton had. But he is no longer helping the club, and he has to go.

More, and more it seems Collingwood are lurching back to the early 1990's when the game is moving forward.

Re: AFL 2021
"black and white", "side by side we stick together", the irony is deafening
Eddie just needs to disappear, try to find somewhere where there are people who don't yet know that he's a total tool, arrogant and entitled, hateful and conceited, ignorant and narcissistic.

Re: AFL 2021
It is not just McGuire. Buckley has been part of the furniture for closing on 3 decades as player, skipper, asst coach and coach. Pendlebury has been skipper for ages.
Collingwood is the only club without an Aboriginal player.
McGuire's reported comments at the Pies AGM apologised for getting it wrong at the Monday presser. But they were more along the lines of "I misread the room". He just does not get it.
I agree with Lardy's comments. The man has made millions from using his Presidency to enhance his profile.
Quite clearly his December announcement about standing down as Pres and dropping out of radio followed receipt of the Report.
It seems a lot of angry Pie fans have put memberships on hold.
I expect Fox will cop some consumer pressure to sack him. His rumoured financial interests in "the bunker", the AFL's DRS may also come under review.
Will be interesting to see if he drops out of Fox.

While all this may be true, there is no way that Collingwood is the only club with elements of racism. If you look at the report it refers to incidents that are well-documented and nothing else has come to light. The systemic racism deals with the way incidents were handled, though many take it to mean that the HC is endemically affected with racism. The report was basically at the behest of Heritier Lumumba - the erstwhile Harry O'Brien who then refused to be a part of it. The playing group has unconditionally apologised despite not personally witnessing any racist behaviour over the past decade or so. H is still not happy though. Former player Simon Buckley said last night that H gave this sobriquet to himself. It has been suggested too that he gave Pendlebury permission to use it. The skipper has remained silent over this claim which is expected to be aired during the impending court case. When H left Collingwood in his parting Copeland speech he made peace with Buckley and extolled the virtues of the club. He went to Melbourne where there were also issues and the players were rapt when he departed. As for Eddie, it is time that he departed. Fans are sick of his gaffes. In fairness to him he does not seem to be inherently racist and he does a lot of good things in the community which are not reported because they don't fit the narrative of sections of the media etc. Nonetheless he has a penchant for using the wrong words which is so habitual it is damaging to himself and his club. Many fans wanted him gone years ago, though he does polarise the faithful. BTW, given the report and attendant apologies, what I would like to see from H is acceptance. If he is really after money he will become known more as the narcissistic mercenary rather than the genuine race warrior.

Curate's egg.
I listened to the presser. Listed his achievements, inc the ethnicity and gender of other Board members.
Took no responsibility whatsoever beyond not leading with the first para of his prepared statement last week. He should have gone over the Newman black face incident years ago.
Yep no doubt the Pies finances are better and they do many good things. Still McGuire has made a small fortune from parlaying his roles as Prez and in the media.
I expect the Supreme Court case will be interesting. He and Buckley will be called as witnesses. The CFC will be very keen to settle out of court. I doubt Lamumba is interested in that.
I doubt Adam Goodes had a schadenfreude moment listening (if he bothered). He is too nice a person.
