Sam Mitchell says 'ta but no ta' re Pies coaching gig. Which could mean either 'You lot kidding???? You need a miracle worker not a coach', or 'I've already got next year sorted but my current boss may be worth a call', or both.....

Re: AFL 2021
Horrie hasn’t been sighted in ages. It did sound like a final farewell, and unlike others I didn’t think he was exaggerating his health issues. I hope I’m wrong.
Bradman also MIA after alerting a few of us to some serious health issues.
Sad times, I suspect.

Hello, ta for your thoughts.
Cannot type much, but open, read and chortle at FB nonsense most days. Had a great laugh re-reading the Anderson over. Just glorious writing.
Watched the game at the Cats' "Litter Box" on Sunday. Kardinia Park became, at least for a few hours, "The Bloods' Bank".
I started laughing towards the end of the 1st Q, then at the break thought the Weasels would fight back. Q2 starts and I start again with the guffaws and oohs and aahs of delight. The Universe stopped and then cracked up when 18yo Gulden used Buddy as a decoy and placed a perfect pass to Heeney (who stuffed up the goal). The great old man then plonked a classic goal in the next play.
During Q4 I managed to send a text to a friend who is a Wet Toaster and was among the 20 Toast fans there (great roll up by the old Keep South at South crew at the game!). She still has not replied and I will pay when she visits.
Don't know if laughter is the best medicine but a win by your footy team or Test side just does wonders for everyone. If 'us and them' is part of the human condition then sport is the best, safest and most joyous'/tragi-comic theatre for its expression.
Lardy - please pass on my regards and commiserations to Zat and Zimmy. (try and make the commiserations sound sincere!)
Cheers and stay safe everyone. xo H

As confirmed today, Mitchell part of the Clarko succession plan. Pies forced their hand by contacting Mitchell before anyone else as Wrighty and Sam are great pals. Would not be surprised if Clarko opted to coach another club next year but would be most likely Carlton. Wright partly left the Hawks because he had a frosty relationship with Clarko by the end. Lyon would be worried because if anyone was touted to take over from Teague it was him because it is likely the Blues are in the market for a more seasoned coach this time.

Re: AFL 2021
Clarkson has more baggage at Carlton than the lost property vault at Tullamarine. Sure as hell the Oval 1987 will be 'ancient history' and 'let's be adults about this' now, while the suits and the IBS egos are trying to tell us plebs he won't be like Pagan and Mickey M'house only worse - but what about when the aforementioned suits decide HIS time is up? Clarkson is welcome to coach whichever of the other 16 clubs he likes and best of luck to him.

Re: AFL 2021
Another unpredictable weekend ...
Melbourne beat Port at Port's 'fortress', having played like sh*t against lesser opposition for the preceding 3 weeks. I can only surmise that Goodwin reminded them that their September ski chalets had already been cancelled.
Essendon smashed Adelaide - OK, this one probably went with recent form.
Notoriously bad travellers Fremantle belted Hawthorn at the Hawks' home away from home, just down the road from me in Launceston. Sorry Nath. I think Clarkson has already left the building.
My Cats managed to beat an improving Carlton in an uninspiring display, and probably only because Carlton kicked 11 consecutive behinds. Their coach should kick 22 consecutive behinds. The result probably aligned with recent form even if the Cats were poor.
Incredibly, St Kilda, absolutely woeful for weeks on end until 3 weeks ago, played magnificently to beat Brisbane, who only a few weeks ago looked like certain finalists after they smashed my mob. Only the most fanatical St Kilda supporter will have tipped this boilover.
With 6 (and a bit) weeks to go, just the two top sides seem certain to play finals, three more would have to bottle the rest of the season to fall out of the final 8, and Sydney will join those three sides with reasonable confidence of finals football if they win tomorrow. Six - maybe seven, Fred - sides are in contention for the last two places in the final 8. Richmond need to get their skates on to be one of them.

If you have watched any of our games this year, our gameplan and personnel are shot. you can't expect to win games if you can't score.

Re: AFL 2021
Now the Suns beat the Giants, by a point.
My tipping is officially screwed.
Nath - I've been watching, and the Hawks have been a shadow of their former selves, but I still didn't expect them to be beaten at their 'home' fortress by the inconsistent and previously 'poor traveller' Dockers. They've always been a threat at home; not so much away.

And the Pies beat the Tiges. As bad as we are, I was surprised that absolutely nobody in the media tipped us because Richmond have been struggling and are pretty depleted atm.

Re: AFL 2021
Richmond overcome the Brisbane Lions to keep their own season alive, and put Brisbane into a situation where they MIGHT miss the top 4. All still very fluid around the 4, and the 8.

Port could take the top four spot ahead of the Lions after a plucky effort against the Saints, despite their injuries. Dusty is ruled out for the season.

Re: AFL 2021
Results generally helpful to Richmond, I'd have preferred wins to St Kilda and GWS to push the Tigers' season further into doubt.
Next week is big.

Good and bad news for Nath's mob in Carlton's miserable effort against North: It does throw them into the mix for their first wooden spoon since getting into the footy cost a couple of shillings, but at least it should get the crayon-suckers off Clarkson & Mitchell's case and back onto Teague's (not that the Hawks are the ONLY mob anxiously checking out North's last month of fixtures all of a sudden, eh Red???)
