Re: AFL 2021
Please, no ... but the ladder is bizarre ... probably just 3 teams currently in the top 8 would have been predicted pre-season.

In this day and age with the even comp there are not many upsets unless Norf is on the end of one.

Another really close one, Port upset the Tigers, only 2 points in it.

And Pies continue to rebuild albeit without trying their young players. Giants wheel out 100 year old corpulent Mummy to smash Grundy yet again.

My Cats finally turn up to 2021 season in round 6. That result over the Eagles was totally unexpected.

Dont win premierships in April (thats regarding Cats not having turned up until today)
I reckon Cats are a big chance
Add Danger and Higgins to the team today ...good chance

Re: AFL 2021
No you can't win a flag in April - but you can sure as hell lose one.
It is not likely Jeremy Cameron had been called Jerry in his lifetime before Saturday - but if the co-conspiracy with Tom even looks like bearing the ultimate fruit he better get damn well used to it.
Melbourne looked great most of Saturday night, but never better than at the start of the last quarter, when for ten or fifteen minutes Richmond were just within range and one goal away from a run-on. In those ten minutes their defence reminded me of the Sith-Effricans in the World Cup Final 18 months ago, with the wind not getting past them.
Serial irritant Toby Greene will be GWS's next captain - and might not have to wait until 2022. And it will make him.

Re: AFL 2021
The Dogs and Demons are both one set up, in tennis terms. Breezed through, Boris Becker style.
One fears still that Melbourne's inner Jana Novotna may make an appearance, come finals.

Re: AFL 2021
Collingwood recruiting wizard Ned Guy officially Demon#11 - will leave next month, about eight months after the move was first mooted, seven after it should have happened and six at least after most of Planet AFL thought it had. Like most vacant positions at Collingwood lately, his role will be filled by Graham Wright.

I think it's time to shut the door and turn off the lights at Pieland. It will make Pie fans and non Pie fans happy.

Re: AFL 2021
Well, that was unexpected (Cats d Tigers) ... but can it be done come finals? I thought Rata was a good ‘in’ and the back men were very solid. Henry and Henderson in particular are working well.

no, they won't get 15 goals out of Rohan/Hawkins/Cameron in a final (and Lynch/Riewoldt only having 2 between them)

Re: AFL 2021
I don’t disagree; that was the point of my rhetorical question, fuelled by three years of finals elimination at their hands.

Re: AFL 2021
Think you have them covered, easily.
Tight ladder, currently. For a while today it appeared that Carlton might beat Footscray, but the Dogs ran out the fourth quarter much better. As it is, there are only two games separating 4th and 14th. Had Fred's Blues run out the game, the 2 game separation would have been between 2nd and 12th.
At the moment I'd only guarantee Melbourne a finals slot, and only North Melbourne and guaranteed to miss out. A couple more weeks of down time and North could be joined by the Pies and the Hawks but (IMO) it's too soon to write either off just yet.

Re: AFL 2021
Tight at 3/4 time, Nath, but you should be right with the 'home' crowd.
Sydney sends the Pies to the cellar (and Buckley to retirement, surely).
Is recent form a blip for the Tigers, or the start of a trend?
