Priceless and hilarious blog from veteran Labour left wing MP Austin Mitchell on his blog (on the BBC Politics website) -

"Labour has had none (meetings)," writes disgruntled-sounding Labour MP Austin Mitchell, on his blog. "We are to have one Wednesday 2.30pm by which time it will probably be all over. No need to consult us when all the decisions can be taken by Mandy and Campbell. They know things so much better than the peasants and workers."

PMSL ... Seems that the NULabour castle's falling down all around them ...

David Lammy has been saying pretty much the same, and the implication has been made that the approach to the Lib Dems came from Mandleson, Adonis and Campbell - if true, not an elected MP among them.

Unfulfilled manifesto pledges - is there an incinerator large enough?

It seems that the responsibility for the breakdown in the Lab-Lib Dem talks was down to Ed Balls who was 'rude' to the Lib Dem negotiators snigger You can always rely on Broon & Balls, the most socially maladroit people in British politics, to alienate anyone they come into contact with.

It's always been the NuLabour way - the policy and decision makers have never, 'cept occasionally - been elected MP's .... funny innit ... and how they got away with it for so long will always remain a mystery.

Having read back a few pages there seems to be a distinct lack of "yeah but what a bunch of c*nts the tories are" type comments. Has the FB forum suddenly been transported to Richmond upon Thames?

Well it's goodbye Gordy (at last!) cheers and hello Dave! king

Thus Gordon goes down in history as the interregnum between Blair Mk.I and Blair Mk.II. pale

Here's a song for Her Maj as she presides over the transition of power:

Well inevitable - the fact that Dav Cam couldn't manage even a slim majority despite a massively decomposing dead duck of a labour government, tons of cash in the coffers and the Murdoch press behind him suggests the British public find him about as a personable as the quite frankly bizarre Gordon Brown.

Bring on broken Britain!

David Cameron is the 12th Prime Minister appointed by H.M. the Queen since Sir Winston Churchill in February 1952. At 43 years and 214 days he is the youngest Prime Minister to be appointed since the Earl of Liverpool in June 1812, being 147 days younger than Tony Blair was at the time of his initial appointment on 2 May 1997.

Today marks the 198th anniversary of the assassination of Spencer Perceval, the only Prime Minister to be assassinated (so far!), in the Central Lobby of the House of Commons by John Bellingham, a deranged merchant. Bellingham was hanged a week later.

You've got it in one there Tom. JKL summed up many peoples attitude when he hinted that while his political leanings were more left than right - he may vote for the Tories ........ while firmly holding his nose. The fact is - nothing much will change - at least not on many of the major issues, as many of the political class think the same way.

Britain has always been a conservative with a small "c" country, with a good dose of liberalism thrown in. The majority of the Old Labour (pre-Blair) working class were very conservative in attitude, especially on things like family, benefits, law & order, drugs, immigration .... and many old traditions which seem strange to foreign people, but which nonetheless have served us pretty well for centuries. On all those major issues - and Europe - Cameron and his acolytes can't remotely be described as a right wing alternative to Labour.

Therein lies the problem ....... apart from the BNP (which no-one with a shred of decency can vote for with a clear conscience), where's the political party on the right ? The one who's policies don't actively destroy the traditional family ? The one who'll put the rights of the person in his own home before the rights of some drugged up wee scrote who's broken in ? The party who'll get us out of the EU so we can govern ourselves rather than parlaiment being a rubber stamp for legislation which hurts and costs us as a nation ? The party who'll repeal the Human Rights Act which seems to be nothing more than a way fro criminals to milk the government and forces us to pay thousands of pounds in benefit to terrorist mouthpieces as we can't send them from whence they came ?

Last but not least - where's the party prepared to scale down government interference in our lives & get off our backs ? Don't you find it both incredible and very frightening that for every day in power, the last government made something or other illegal ? They've given more and more power to more unelected, unaccountable officials ....... given more people the right to enter your home. I could go on, but I'm sure you get my drift.

Had we a party with that kind of manifesto they'd draw votes from Labour and Tory equally. Some people will absolutely loathe it ( I suspect you may be one of them ) but do you believe its healthy for the country not to have a political party at least campaigning on such a ticket ? At least the electorate would have a choice .... just now, the choice is rather like picking between eating arsenic porridge or strychnine bolognese .......
