Hehehe, sure you are Trev. I love your opinion, but it is rarely fair and balanced when it comes to Aus cricket. Good luck to you, and keep up the good work.Henry wrote:skully wrote:And in the role of head moaner in place of taips this evening is...Trev.
Just trying to maintain the balance and perspective. There's a bit too much Clarke-induced sprog flying around here at the moment. It's like all the Aussie forummers have become Mark Nicholas.

Anyway, that was before ready all the hyperbole and polemics over the last 5 or so pages. I mean come on, skully says one post of praise over a cover drive and suddenly all Aus fans have creamed themselves.
I know there's a day to go and there will be more to discuss tomorrow but there are a few questions now to think about looking towards Adelaide.
Just how good are both sets of batsmen? This pitch has been rather shocking, it's like the opposite of the first class pitches that had games finishing in 2.5 days. So going to be interesting to see if those that made scores can back it up and those that didn't, see if they can come up with a decent knock.
Same could be said about the bowlers. Morkel's been the best for Saffers and Steyn's had some good spells that went unrewarded, you'd expect them to be better than they appear, likewise the listless Aussies of the first two days.
I think also, it will be too harsh to judge Quiney completely on whatever performance he does now and possibly from the second test. He's only really a replacement batsman and to judge him on 2 tests after 18 months of results getting him into the side is unfair. Still, it's not like he going to retain his place whatever he does, even if he scores 200 (and Brad Hodge can tell you, even then its not a sure thing)/

I wouldn't be English if I was able to provide a fair and balanced opinion on Aus cricket

taips gets bored easily, so is a one-trick pony. He trolls and baits until someone snaps and has a spew (yes, I am guilty of this). To Red's credit, she keeps coming back for more, but it is just so tedious.baggygreen wrote:Btw taips and skulls, sure you're not long lost cousins or something? /flees

Er, it's called getting a goodish lead on the off chance that the SAffers choke under last day pressure.Big Dog wrote:Is Clark just red ink hunting or is there some reason for batting on.

I would say Ban Gabba but that would sound like Max Mosley's dream with a Swedish pop group.

Hmm, I thought all the law-abiding ones come to live in Perth. Has to be the only reason we still have a union team over here.

I quite like the Gabba and it would feel strange to have an opening season Test match not there but ******, this curator should be deported to India where he belongs.

So, with a 2.5 hour first session, Aust could possibly get close to a 200 run lead by lunch. More likely 160-180 I guess because Saf would have no incentive to stick to the over rate.
Let's say Saf were 3 down and still 100 runs behind going into the last session, it could get very tense.

Clearly a draw coming up (Amla to get his 2nd ton of the match), but would be piss funny if the Yarps did an England Adelaide 06-07 and lost the unlosable on the last day.JGK wrote:So, with a 2.5 hour first session, Aust could possibly get close to a 200 run lead by lunch. As I was BBQing, Jimmy Maxwell summed up this deck on ABC Radio. "Fit for a timeless Test - they'd still be batting by the start time of the Adelaide Test."

Looks like it was fixed.
Kevin Mitchell paid God to wash out a day's play?
Made no difference. Could have played an timeless test on this road.
Plagiarized again.

Would be hilarious but not beyond the realms of possibilty. SA won their last test and rarely string two really good performances in a row.
