It's sometimes hard to know where "publicity clustering/snowjobbing" ends and actual criticism starts these days!

Aye, you could say the same about the last Batman movie. Most of the critics raved about it, but I thought it was an over-noisy piece of work with a storyline that had been exhausted of all good ideas and a main villain (Bain) who's voice was barely understandable.

Saw Slumdog Millionaire for the second time. What a beautiful and powerful movie. So many themes. Such varied music, which has been used so judiciously.....

Good stuff.
I watched it last weekend. Well directed, well acted, good casting, good movie.
It's on Fox "On Demand" if that's available at your place.

I also watched it on the weekend. Not sure it deserved the top Oscar gong but a very good movie just the same.

aye, better then most nevertheless.
It was a pleasure to watch a good story about spies and international intrigue without pyrotechnics, cgi or swift cut editing, only one gunshot and with a dialogue sound track that was well........ audible.

Getting some cracker reviews. Apparently a rollicking good ride with massive SFX.

Re: Anyone seen any good movies recently?
I was dragged along to watch After Earth yesterday, despite the terrible reviews. To be honest, it wasn't as bad as I expected. The first 45 minutes set it up to be a decent enough sci-fi flick, before the ridiculous last 45 ruined it. I think if it hadn't had Smith Snr. and Smith Jnr. in, it would have been slightly better received. 5 out of 10.
I also watched The Adjustment Bureau on BR two nights back. I was impressed with it, it was smart and never boring. Matt Damon gives a solid performance, as ever. 7 out of 10.

Prisoners. A well crafted thriller that keeps your attention throughout.
Jake Gyllenhaal seldom seems to do bad movies, and Hugh Jackman was very good in that role....

Nope, and I've dropped any plans of watching it again... away to watch some 9 half weeks.

I saw it yesterday. Good film and well worth a watch. Colin Firth is excellent as always, but I don't really rate Nicole Kidman as an actor. She only seems to have one facial expression. Stellan Skarsgard also gives a fantastically understated performance.
7/10.

Have any of the Indians here gotten HBO hits? It's has to be mis-spelt. Over the last month, I've seen Pirahnaconda, Sharktopus, Gatoroid vs mega python and later today is Mega Spider.
Although I did get to see Soundtrack, which I thought was a very decent film. A remake of It's All Gone Pete Tong.

I've seen Philomena, August and The Book Thief these past few weeks. All include some pretty good acting. Think having read TBT, it helps if you have.
