Indeed, who was the batsman?
Neil Hawke wasn't it?
Yep, "Garth" McKenzie's opening partner on that tour. Hawke had previously taken his then best Test career haul of 6-47 in England's poor 1st innings performance of 182. Others in the picture, apart from FST & Hawke, are Cowdrey (again) at 1st slip taking the catch, Peter Parfitt at 2nd slip, Jim Parks behind the stumps, Tommy Veivers the non-striking batsman and (probably) Charlie Elliott (again) as the bowling end umpire.

I'm just under that score board. The cheapest seats but they weren't so bad.

I can't believe there's that block of empty seats at the top of the stand to the left of the scoreboard. Must've been a bunch of English backpackers who said "sod this for a joke, we're off to the pub".

Re: Your favourite sporting pictures...
I was pretty well square to the stumps, right on the fence - nothing to do with cost, there just weren't any better seats available by the time I got through to the booking site.

You had a better view, though, and didn't have to sit through rain and cold to get it.skully wrote:I'm not.
Still, being there for that wicket . . .
Good times.

More likely to be a bunch of nesh Ozzie gayers, who couldn't stand the English winter style weather.

Looks like you wouldn't be able to see half the pitch from those seats tbh

It's inconclusive - might have been a shy at the stumps whilst BBB was playing a dummy shot

In answer to AD:
I doubt it.
Not till they play on uncovered pitches again. And have someone at the other end who loses it as furiously as Tony Lock (LAFasterandFaster)

Terrible head position as well.
But then again it was an end of season beer game.
Our opening bowler later threw up his tea and half time ale behind a tree after a couple of overs!

Anyway, enough about my inadequacies.
Surprised this one hasn't surfaced yet.
Destined for both legendary and iconic status (if it doesn't have them already) in years to come.
