20s to win the comp or finish top 4 or 8?

Root gone.
A bit stiff as the ball was shown to be barely clipping leg stump but the decision was given on field, so stood.
3-42 at Drinks.

Re: Rugby League 2022
Cracking game this evening. First class exhibition of attacking football from both sides.
Penrith just did enough to beat Souths, with a great bit of play from half O'Sullivan to ice the game.
Panthers were down by 2 with 4 mins to play. Then, after fielding a clearing Souths kick inside their own quarter, they made over 60 metres in 5 plays before the half put up a great kick that forced a knock on from Souths winger Jaxson Paulo (felt a bit sorry for him - he had a shocker, dropping the ball 3 times) inside the Souths quarter.
A few plays later Penrith feigned to go for the winning field goal, but dummy half Api Koroisau outsmarted the markers (who had eyes on the potential field goal kickers) and passed on the blind side to a charging Liam Martin, who crashed over for the winner.
Penrith have now locked up the Minor Premiership. Congrats to them.

It was a good game but fark me Mitchell is lazy. Souths should have won that game easily.

It's in his (their) blood. Absolutely brilliant on their day, but very prone to walkabout laziness (it's almost an arrogance). Cody Walker is the same.
We also saw it tonight from a number of Nags players. Staggs was atrocious in his lazy tackling, but he sertainly wasn't Robinson Crusoe amongst the Bronco players.
I used to follow Group 3 Rugby League very closely when I was a teen (grew up in Port Mac). Indigenous players were numerous. Port won the comp in the mid-70s with a pair of the boys (Eddie Vale and Les Drew) in the halves. On their day they (and we) were unbeatable. But every so often they would go walkabout and have a lazy shocker. Other teams in the comp had the same issue.

Re: Rugby League 2022
FMD, what a rooted performance by the Tigers. Smashed 72-6 by the R00ters. This almost makes the "worst ever defeats" list on Wiki.
4 tries to Nat Butcher, the 1st R00ters forward in nearly 100 years to score 4. And Sam Walker kicks 12 from 12. Only 6 players in history have done that.
In other snottings, the Sharkies smashed the Coastal Filth (LOL) 40-6, the Cows belted the Worriers 48-4, and the Slimeys crunched the Puppies 42-6.
A lot of near declarations today.

Re: Rugby League 2022
Only one of today's games mattered to the top 8 race. Newcastle hosted Canberra, the latter still hoping for a 8th place finish.
The Green Machine looked cooked at HT, down 22-8. But Sticky said the right things in the sheds and they came out firing to blitzed the half 18-0 to win by 26-22.
Canberra (26 pts) need to win both remaining games (v Manly at home, and the Tigers away). They should win both. They also need one of R00ters, Rabbits or Broncos (all on 28 pts) to lose both games, or Broncos to lose one game (Raiders can catch them on PD). If 5th place Eels (30 pts) lose both games they could also be caught by the Raiders.
Remaining games for 5, 6, 7 & 8...
Eels - Broncos away, Storm home. Should beat the woeful Nags to secure a top 8 spot.
R00ters - Storm away, Rabbits at home. Tough run home. In great form but could lose both. Final game v Bunnies could be critical for a top 8 finish.
Souths - Cows home, R00ters away. Another tough run in. Will need to win one to finish top 8.
Broncos - Eels home, Dragons away. No certainty to win either.
All to play for. I love this time of year.
In today's other game the Drags played some good footy to beat the Titans 46-26, in a game of very leaky defence. Ironically St George had prop Francis Molo marched for a high shot with 17 mins to go (score 30-26 to Drags) then put on 3 unanswered tries with 12 men.

Re: Rugby League 2022
3 cracking games to get this 2nd last H&A round underway.
Nags v Slimeys tonight, Squall v R00ters tomoz night, and Bunnies host the Cows on Saturday night. All are toss ups and all have a bearing on the final make-up of the Top 8.
In other games, Pennies should be too good for the Worriers tomoz evening, Raiders should account for the Coastal Filth on Sat arvo, similarly the Sharkies v Dogs on Sat evening, the Drags should win (but probably won't) v toothless Tiges on Sunday arvo, and the Tits should account for the awful Nits on Sunday evening.

Re: Rugby League 2022
Slimeys absolutely snotted the Nags tonight.
They were up 31-6 at Oranges, and but for a sloppy 1st 20 mins in the 2nd Half, Eels should've put 60+ on the Silly Fillies.
As it was they managed 53-6. Carthorses' PD is now just one point better than the chasing Raiders.
Nags have now conceded the most points in 2 consecutive games (113) than in their whole history.

Probably.
In a brutal game tonight, the R00ters outplayed the Squall in the 1st Half then scored early in 2nd Half to take a 18-8 lead, but then had to hang on grimly as the Storm got much more ball.
In the final 10 minutes Melbourne had 7 consecutive sets inside Easts' half, most within the 20, but the R00ters held on. Jessie Bromwich did cross the line but Teddy and another Easts player somehow held him up.
That wraps up the R00ters spot in the top 8. So the Raiders can only eliminate Souths or Nags. If either win a game then the Raiders are done.
Earlier Penrith easily accounted for the Worriers and accepted the JJ Giltinan Shield as Minor Premiers.

After two big losses, the Broncos have a similar Points Differential to the Raiders.
So, at the moment, Canberra would be favourites to finish in front of Brisbane even if the Broncos won the final game.

Re: Rugby League 2022
So Raiders (courtesy of big win over Manly today) have leapfrogged the Nags into 8th, and as Wally alluded, have a much superior PD (43 pts better). So if the Raiders win next week, the Nags will have to beat the Drags by a million to have any chance.
Souths beat the Cows in a scrappy game tonight 20-10. Souths have now secured a top 8 spot and the Cows drop to 3rd after Cronulla (now 2nd) beat the Dogs earlier today.

Re: Rugby League 2022
Cracking win by the Slimeys over the Squall tonight.
They clocked off in the last 10 minutes to concede 3 tries (Isaiah Papali'i was the culprit each time), which Brad Arthur will be annoyed about, but it was a dominant performance.
They controlled the play for most of the 1st Half, hardly conceding any yards in their own half to the Storm. Then they scored a couple of excellent tries (one from a sensational Gutho pass to Sivo) in the 2nd Half to have the game under control with 20 minutes to go.
They have locked in 4th spot and will face Penrith in the 1st week of the semis.
Geez, what odds could you have got on a Penrith-Sharks-Cowboys-Parra top 4??

R00ters outplayed the Bunnies but didn't quite put them away.
They play each other again next week in the 1st week of Finals.

Will the Drags' 12 wins-12 losses record please the Board?
I think they are over Hook but who else is there?
Geez I hope we secure Hunt again. He was colossal in the win over the Nags tonight. His ball distribution and insane try-setting-up passes were eye-opening.

Meanwhile, the Cows easily accounted for the reserve grade Panthers in Townsville.
The way-understrength Pennies weren't completely disgraced but could've done better than the 38-8 loss only for too many errors (dropped balls and missed tackles).
Having said that, the Cows were pretty slick and aren't making up the numbers in the top 4.
