Re: Rugby League 2022
Cracking match between the Storm and Raiders. Raiders prevailed 20-16.
Yeah, sad for Papenhuyzen. Straight in for an op on his busted knee cap.

Re: Rugby League 2022
Decent effort by the Drags last night v recently high-flying Coastal Filth. A solid 20-6 win in the wet, largely thanks to a blinder by Ben Hunt.
I just wish they could maintain some consistency. That appears to revolve around the form and fitness of captain Hunt.

Re: Rugby League 2022
Tigers very stiff to lose v Cows this arvo.
A very soft escort penalty from a desperation last second short kick-off saw the Cows get the chance for an after-the-bell win via a Val Holmes penalty goal.
Having said that, the Tigers gave away a couple of soft tries in the 2nd half with shit defence out wide and a shit pass from Brooks.
2nd placed Cows narrowly avoided slipping 10 points behind the Panthers on the ladder. A 10 point lead in the ladder has not happened since the all-conquering Artie Beetson led Easts side of 1975.

Re: Rugby League 2022
Bit of a balls-up by the Coastal Filth over their proposed Pride jersey.
Neglected to check with their players even though the faith of South Pacific Islanders is very well known.
Now these players are saying they'll stand down for the pride round.
So an inclusive move has divided the team because it was poorly done.

They should have produced an alternative jersey saying “Proud That My Religion Promotes Hate”.

Well, depends on which religion I suppose. I know Muslim footballers over here have refused to wear shirts with such sponsors on them before.Nath wrote:I guess their religion is fine with them promoting gambling and alcohol?

Gambling isn't prohibited by the Bible. And Jesus apparently turned water into wine at a wedding.

Re: Rugby League 2022
Absolute brain snap by Cleary.
Without him (surely a 4 weeks suspension) and Luai (injured until Finals) Penrith could lose nearly all their remaining games.
They play the Raiders, Storm, Rabbits, Warriors and Cows. Just as well they are 8 in front.
They may yet miss the Minor Premiership.

Re: Rugby League 2022
Drags outclassed by a sharper Cows outfit this arvo.
They hung on grimly in defence but never looked threatening in attack.
With Cleary out for the rest of the season proper (Penrith accepted the 5-weeks-with-early-plea option) as well as Luai, the Cows are a rough show of running down the dominant Panthers for the Minor Premiership.
They have a couple of tough games in the R00ters and the Bunnies before their final game of the season proper v the Panthers.

Re: Rugby League 2022
Good win by the R00ters v Nags on Thurs night, and a great win by the Slimeys v C. Filth last night.
The Filth fullback Garrick looked like a battleship trying to turn when confronted with the flying Gutho and Brown in the 2nd half. They both sniggered as Garrick was left grasping fresh air as they breezed past him. A very entertaining game. Still, the Eels defence doesn't look Premier material to me. Shaun "Forrest Gump" Lane has a great game with his charging offloads, as did King Gutho with his slick passes and great speed. Much maligned Jakob Arthur had a good game in attack but looked shaky in defence.
Suck shit, Manly.

Re: Rugby League 2022
And that's all she wrote for the Dragons for 2022.
Weak start with a typical error lead to a very soft try for the Sharkies and the Drags struggled to stay in touch from there.
Lost 24-18 in the end. Had a chance at the death but M'bye knocked on at dummy half 5m from the line with 10 secs on the clock. Soft end to the season by a soft side. Travesty for Hunt who carried us all season.
I can enjoy the semis now.

Commiserations Skully and JGK on the Drags' season.
Skully, I hope you keep up your pithy Leeeeg reports. I always read and enjoy them, even if I rarely comment.

They tried hard but their consistent ineptitude in the attacking 20m means that they will always struggle to beat good sides - even if they are playing as poorly as the Sharks did last night. Hopefully that idiot Tariq Sims has played his last game for us.
As for the semis - it's going to be a Panthers procession.

Unimaginative attack and leaky defence - a recipe for a beyond Top 8 finish.
How is it that we can't find a decent defensive coach?? And an attacking one??

Re: Rugby League 2022
Is there a bigger post match press conference dickhead than Sticky??
Fancy making reference to a 12 year old kid being a "weak-gutted dog".
Apparently that's the last contact Stuart had with current Penrith player Jaemen Salmon, who somehow locked his horns with Sticky's son 11 years ago.
Salmon did wrong in lashing out with his feet after being tackled (and copped a $1000 fine for it) but for Sticky to make his attack on Salmon the centrepiece of his press conference was weak as piss. Your side was thoroughly outplayed, Ricky - fullstop.
Farken grow up, Sticky!!

Re: Rugby League 2022
Storm playing like the team from recent years.
After a bruising softening up period, Melbourne exploited some defensive holes to run in 3 tries. Panthers were lucky not to concede a further 2 just before half time.
16-0 to Storm at Oranges.
Can't see the Pennies winning this one.

Re: Rugby League 2022
Penrith had a mountain of ball in the 2nd half but couldn't breach the Storm defence.
Panthers half O'Sullivan had an off night with his kicking and general strategic play. Penrith continually chose the wrong option in attack, rattled by the Squall Wall. Many final passes went astray.

Re: Rugby League 2022
Very similar game to last night.
Two evenly matched teams on paper but one smashes the other in defence then capitalises on a tired bruised opponent.
All Souths. Unlucky not to be leading by more than 14-0 at HT.
Parra will need to lift to stay in this one but the Bunnies look to too big, fast and strong.

Re: Rugby League 2022
Sharks beat the Tigers (36-12) and the Nags beat the Nits (28-10) in predictable results, but the important one was the R00ters knocking off 2nd place Cows (32-18).
This gives the Panthers breathing space at the top (6 pts clear with a healthy PD). They are almost assured of the Minor Premiership.
The Bunnies, Nags, Slimeys and R00ters now fight it out for the best 5 to 8 spots, with the Bunnies and R00ters looking strong.
Panthers, Cows, Sharks and Storm make up the top 4.
Panthers likely to finish top and Sharks (very easy run home) look good for 2nd.
